Basic Sciences
Upon completing the initial phase of your medical education with Global Academies, you’ll enter an exciting and challenging journey in the MD program at a reputable Caribbean medical school. The program starts with five semesters dedicated to Basic Sciences, laying the cornerstone for your future in medicine. This curriculum is meticulously designed to blend comprehensive academic learning with practical, lab-based experiences. It prepares you rigorously for the medical profession, aligning closely with the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) format and supplementing theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical training whenever possible.
Caribbean medical schools are known for their personalized educational approach, ensuring that you receive focused attention from skilled and passionate professors. This learning environment is enriched with one-on-one tutoring, extensive mentoring, and a supportive student community that encourages peer-led learning. It’s an immersive experience that not only imparts knowledge but also hones your practical skills. After mastering the Basic Sciences and meeting all necessary university requirements, you’ll be ready to take on the USMLE Step 1. Success in this critical examination paves the way for your clinical rotations in the United States, offering you the opportunity to apply your learning in a variety of healthcare settings.
Clinical Sciences
The Clinical Sciences component of an MD Program is a critical 80-week phase completed in the United States. It consists of five semesters at affiliated teaching hospitals and clinical facilities. This phase is structured into 48 weeks of core clerkships covering key medical areas and 32 weeks of elective rotations, allowing the student to specialize in areas of interest. During this time, the student will also prepare for the USMLE Step 2CK exam.
The program offers the opportunity to train alongside students from top U.S. medical schools but at a more affordable cost. The universities have a strong network of U.S. hospitals and clinical institutions ensuring quality clinical training. After completing the Clinical Sciences phase, the students graduate with an MD Degree, equipping them to apply for medical residency and pursue their medical license.
